About
About Tim (UML Operator)
Hello there! I am UML Operator, Tim Ackroyd, and for four decades I have worked in and around Operations and Engineering. I am now retired and want to share my experience with you.
The Beginnings
My first mentor was Sol Price, founder of Price Club which you now know as Costco. While my background and education was around Business and Finance, my passion was always in Computer Science and Architectural Engineering. Sol had me working in warehouse club operations, but later on vertical integration efforts to build packaging, meat processing, photo processing, optical, bakery operations, and yes... the food court you enjoy today in Costco. So many great minds and people to work with. That was an amazing journey in whole.
The Middle
When I left Price-Costco in the 90's, and as I was in "the Bay Area" I got an opportunity to work in the digital space where dot-coms were taking off, but more than that, computing and network advancements.
To Date
By 2000, I started working for SBC, now known as AT&T. With my business operations and systems experience, I quickly acclimated to the telecommunications industry. From Online (att.com) to Cloud to Big Data, and from consumer to enterprise business, I worked all areas for over 22 years.
Next Chapter
Well, the rest will be in one of my books, but for now I want to share my knowledge with all of you.
